HPL Cladding Removal

Trident Facades provides HPL cladding removal services as part of façade remediation and replacement projects.

Where HPL cladding has been identified for removal, the work needs to be carefully planned around the existing façade construction, access requirements, temporary protection and the proposed replacement system.

HPL Removal as Part of Façade Remediation

HPL removal is generally one stage within a larger remediation programme.

Assessment → Remediation Strategy → Design → HPL Removal → Replacement → Completion

The scope and extent of removal should follow the agreed remediation strategy and construction requirements.

Our HPL Removal Service

Works can include:

  • Site preparation
  • Access arrangements
  • Scaffolding or MEWPs
  • Temporary protection
  • Controlled dismantling
  • HPL panel removal
  • Removal of associated rails and fixings where required
  • Segregation
  • Disposal
  • Exposure of underlying wall construction
  • Protection of retained components
  • Preparation for replacement

Controlled Dismantling

HPL panels form only one component of an external wall system.

Behind the panels there may be:

  • Insulation
  • Membranes
  • Rails
  • Cavity barriers
  • Fire stopping
  • Structural or secondary support
  • Windows and interfaces

The removal process therefore needs to be coordinated so that the underlying construction can be safely exposed and prepared for the next stage.

Preparing for Replacement

Following HPL removal, the exposed wall can be assessed against the replacement design.

Depending on the project, this may require:

  • Insulation replacement
  • New membranes
  • Cavity barrier installation
  • Fire stopping
  • Substrate repairs
  • New support rails
  • New cladding

HPL Removal and Wider Remediation

Where HPL cladding has been identified for removal through a FRAEW, fire risk assessment or condition survey, the removal scope should follow the findings and recommendations of that assessment.

Our dedicated survey team can assist with the investigation and opening-up stage where required.
