Cladding Remediation Funding

Check your building’s funding route

Cladding remediation funding is different across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

If you’re responsible for a residential building with potentially unsafe cladding, our UK-wide eligibility checker can help you establish which funding or remediation route may apply to your building.

Once you know where you stand, we can help with the technical work required to move the project forward — from external wall investigation and fire-risk assessment through to remediation strategy, design, costing and delivery.

Cladding Funding Across the UK

There is no single funding scheme covering every building in the UK.

The funding and remediation routes available depend on where your building is located, its height, construction, identified fire safety risks and who is responsible for the building and any defects.

Our eligibility checker brings these factors together to help you understand your building’s position.

England

Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS)

The CSS provides funding towards eligible cladding remediation works on residential buildings, primarily those 11 metres and over. The scheme remains active, with eligible buildings continuing through assessment, application and remediation.

Scotland

Cladding Remediation Programme

The Scottish Government’s Single Open Call closed on 31 March 2026. The programme is now focused on existing applications and remediation.

If your building missed the deadline, check the Developer List and contact your Factor to confirm whether an Expression of Interest was submitted.

Wales

Welsh Building Safety Fund

The Welsh Government’s Building Safety Fund supports eligible residential buildings, including buildings 11 metres and over, with building safety assessments and eligible remediation works. The wider programme continues to support the identification and remediation of fire safety defects.

Northern Ireland

Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS)

The Northern Ireland CSS supports eligible residential buildings more than four storeys or at least 11 metres in height where fire safety risks associated with external wall cladding need to be addressed. Applications are processed through Homes England on behalf of the Department for Communities.

Check Your Eligibility

Not sure which cladding funding or remediation route may apply to your building?

Our UK Eligibility Checker provides an initial indication of the schemes and requirements that may be relevant, based on key information about your building. It considers:

Location
England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Building
Height, number of storeys, residential use and number of homes.

External Wall Systems
Cladding and façade systems, external wall construction, known materials and potential fire-safety risks.

Responsibility
Ownership and management arrangements, developer involvement and responsibility for external repairs or remediation.

Existing Information
EWS1 forms, FRAEW assessments, external wall assessments, fire risk assessments, drawings, surveys and previous reports.

The checker helps you understand which funding or remediation route may apply to your building, what could affect eligibility and what you may need to do next.

If your building may be eligible for funding, we can support you through the full façade remediation process — from surveys and assessment through to design, remediation and completion.

The checker provides an initial screening indication only. It does not confirm eligibility, funding or entitlement under any government scheme.

Buildings Under 11 Metres

The Cladding Safety Scheme has also been expanded to provide a funding route for eligible multi-occupied residential buildings under 11 metres in England.

This is particularly important for buildings that may previously have fallen outside the main government remediation funding routes because of their height.

The current under-11m funding route is targeted at buildings where cladding presents a serious life-critical fire safety risk.

Applications for this funding round opened on 17 August 2026 and the current application window closes on 9 October 2026.

The available funding is limited, and meeting the eligibility requirements does not automatically guarantee that funding will be awarded.

If you are responsible for a building under 11 metres with potentially unsafe cladding, it is therefore important to establish the building’s position and required evidence as early as possible.

Our Cladding Safety Scheme Support

01 — Funding Route Review

We begin by understanding the building, its ownership, height, external wall systems and existing information.

This helps establish which remediation and funding route may be relevant and what information is likely to be required.

02 — Existing Information Review

You may already have surveys, drawings, fire assessments, EWS1 information, photographs or previous reports.

We review the available information to identify what can be used and where important gaps remain.

03 — External Wall Investigation

Where the construction of the external wall is not adequately understood, we can coordinate an appropriate investigation.

This may include intrusive opening-up to establish the actual materials and construction within the façade.

04 — FRAEW Coordination

We can coordinate the technical information and investigation work required to support the FRAEW process and liaise with the relevant fire engineering professionals.

The FRAEW itself must be undertaken by an appropriately qualified firm meeting the requirements of the relevant CSS process.

05 — Façade Remediation Strategy

Once the risks and construction are understood, the next step is determining how the building should be remediated.

A remediation strategy considers the identified defects and fire-safety risks and establishes an appropriate approach to resolving them.

06 — Remediation Design

The remediation strategy can then be developed into a detailed design.

This may include replacement or alteration of cladding and other external wall components, associated fire-safety measures, interfaces and details required to deliver the works correctly.

07 — Cost Planning

Understanding the likely cost of remediation is an important part of project planning and funding.

We can develop the technical scope and cost information required to establish the anticipated remediation works and associated project costs.

08 — Procurement & Contractor Engagement

Once the scope and design have been established, the project can progress towards procurement.

We can assist with preparing the information required to obtain contractor proposals and support the process of selecting an appropriate remediation contractor.

09 — Remediation Delivery

Once funding, design and procurement requirements have been addressed, the project can move into construction.

We can coordinate with the project team and contractors to help progress the agreed remediation works through to completion.

What If There Is No Funding Route?

Not every building will qualify for government funding.

Depending on the circumstances, remediation may instead need to be considered through:

  • Developer-led remediation
  • Building-owner-funded works
  • Other government schemes
  • Existing contractual arrangements
  • Planned refurbishment programmes
  • Other available remediation routes

The absence of a government funding route does not necessarily mean that remediation cannot proceed.

The important thing is understanding what the problem is, who is responsible and what options are available.

We can help establish the technical position and identify a practical route forward.
