ACM Cladding Remediation

Trident Facades provides ACM cladding remediation services for buildings where aluminium composite material cladding forms part of an external wall system requiring remedial works.

ACM remediation can involve investigation, removal, replacement and associated work to insulation, cavity barriers, fire stopping, support systems and other external wall components.

What Is ACM Cladding?

Aluminium composite material (ACM) cladding consists of aluminium skins bonded to a core material. Different ACM products and core constructions have different characteristics, so the specific product and external wall build-up need to be established as part of the assessment.

Where ACM forms part of an external wall system with life-safety fire risk, the appropriate remediation response should be established through the relevant competent assessment and remediation strategy.

Government guidance recognises that remediation may involve removal and replacement of unsafe cladding systems, while the appropriate solution depends on the circumstances of the building and assessment.

ACM Cladding Remediation Services

Our service can include:

  • Review of existing assessment information
  • Façade investigation
  • ACM identification
  • Remediation strategy
  • Design and specification
  • ACM removal
  • Disposal
  • Insulation replacement
  • Cavity barrier works
  • Fire stopping
  • Replacement cladding
  • Interface works
  • Completion

ACM Removal

Where removal is required, the existing ACM system can be dismantled in a controlled manner.

This may include:

  • Access
  • Temporary protection
  • Panel removal
  • Rail and fixing removal
  • Material segregation
  • Disposal
  • Exposure of the underlying wall
  • Preparation for replacement

See our ACM Cladding Removal service.

ACM Replacement

Where the remediation strategy requires replacement, the new façade needs to be considered as a complete external wall system.

This can involve:

  • New cladding
  • Support systems
  • Insulation
  • Membranes
  • Cavity barriers
  • Fire stopping
  • Flashings
  • Trims
  • Interfaces

See our ACM Cladding Replacement service.

ACM Remediation and PAS 9980

Where external wall fire risk is being assessed through a FRAEW using PAS 9980:2022 methodology, the assessment considers the construction of the external wall and the relevant risk factors before recommendations are made.

The current Cladding Safety Scheme guidance specifically links eligible cladding remediation works to recommendations arising from a suitable FRAEW.
